Conservation vs Social Welfare, Which one has the priority to be supported by the Korean Government?Governmental limited budget should be spent on UNESCO World Heritage conservation rather than provide the food, shelter, and jobs for the homeless. (Conservation vs Social Welfare)----(Class 101, 102, 103, 104)
Nowadays, there are a lot of homelesses in the city because of the economic recession. Many people have been fired or sacked due to the bankruptcy of the companies they are working for. It may seem that helping these people is the most important thing to do. Also, they say that we should not waste our taxes on saving old and rusty old remains. However, I see in a different perspective. In my opinion, helping the poor is indeed important issue, but preserving the conservations is a long term benefit.
Firstly, by conservating the UNESCO World Heritage in Korea, our future generation can receive more exact and detailed information. For ages, Korea has invested most of its budgets on the social welfare after experiencing terrible war and did not have adequate money to preserve our national treasures. Therefore, there are lots of monuments and vestiges harmed by humans and natural disasters. For example, there is 'Joong-Won-Go-Gu-Ryeo-Be' in Korea whi ch has been discovered around 1978. It was pretty much a recent discovery, but most of the words on the monument was unreadable due to the harsh preservation. If the government had invested more of its financial estimates to protecting the national heritage, we could have had more valuable historical facts than we do now.
Secondly, countries which contains many world heritages lures millions of tourists around the world. Countries like France, Italy, Argentina, Greece, for instance, gets more than 30% of its budgets from tourism. It's not only the architectures or statues that were created 100 years ago, but the natural wonders like Iguazu falls or lake Niles. In truth, because of the reckless maintenance of the Iguazu falls in South America, Argentina reported that its budget had noticeably declined.
Lastly, world heritages give us not the general informations but really important and priceless historical facts. To set an example, if we had conserved our information of Dokdo well enough to prove that Dokdo island belongs to Korea, we would not have to quarrel with Japan on which country has right to keep the beautiful island. Also, if we are not careful, another country like China or Russia would tackle us on our history and may state that "Go-Gu-Ryeo",on of Korea's most magnificent and honorable history, is their's.
In conclusion, I strongly claim that Korean Government should spend their limited budgets more on conserving UNESCO world hertiage over social welfare and support my ideas by the ideas above. I remind all of you that incident that happened recently to Nam-Dae-Moon should not be repeated.

Hi, I'm Hyewon Son from class 4.
답글삭제First of all, thank you for visiting my blog.
You said that conservation is more important but I think social welfare is more important than conservation. I think people who are living in this country is prior to cultural properties.
Even though your opinion is diffenrent from me, your essay is very good!
